Ivoclar Vivadent’s patented lithium disilicate material is really a transformation for the dental industry. Never before has a material been able to unite high strength, high esthetics and ease of use into a single product, until now.
IPS e.max is a lithium disilicate glass ceramic that has optimized translucency, resilience and strength for full anatomical restorations. Due to the use of new technologies and optimized processing parameters, IPS e.max lithium disilicate has grew beyond formerly available lithium disilicate ceramics.
IPS e.max lithium disilicate restorations display exceptional durability featuring 360-400 MPa of flexural strength. When fabricated to full-contour, the monolithic structure is the most vigorous ceramic system tested to date. The opalescence, translucency and light diffusion properties of IPS e.max lithium disilicate were all intended to imitate natural tooth structure for beauty and unnoticeable restorations.

IPS e.max CAD
IPS e.max CAD merges exclusivity and high performance. The state-of-the-art lithium disilicate ceramic fulfills the highest esthetic requirements and joins advanced technology with exceptional user-friendliness.
The material is invented for producing esthetic, high-strength restorations using efficient CAD/CAM processing technology. The glass-ceramic is machined in a “soft” intermediate state in which it displays an unusual bluish color. In this state, the material can be manually modified or cut back in a few quick and easy steps and the fit can be checked.
Then, the material is crystallized at approximately 850°C for 20 to 30 minutes. In this process, IPS e.max CAD obtains its final strength of 360 MPa’s and the required esthetic properties, such as tooth shade, translucency and brightness.
CAD/CAM System
IDS mills IPS e.max CAD with the Sirona inLab MC XL and enhanced CEREC 3D Software to deliver better, faster, easier crowns.
Indications
Single anterior and posterior crowns, veneers and inlays/onlays
Contraindications
Not recommended with a feather edge preparation, as it does not provide adequate room for porcelain build-up, or the trough/“gutter” shoulder because of scanning error potential
Cementation
Traditional cementation or adhesive bonding
